Against odds, iPhone overtakes Windows Mobile sales in Q3

iPhone won 27% of the smartphone market in its first full quarter on sale ever. That's more market share than all Windows Mobile devices combined. Those of you who only buy whatever everyone else is buying (which is the same as touting Windows' huge market share) must now buy an iPhone if you're in the market for a new smartphone.Tags: apple_iphone- View this story in |

"There's no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance. It's a $500 subsidized item. They may make a lot of money. But if you actually take a look at the 1.3 billion phones that get sold, I'd prefer to have our software in 60% or 70% or 80% of them, than I would to have 2% or 3%, which is what Apple might get."

Oh yes.. let's also consider one thing - how many ads do you normally see for Windows Mobile? Not really any (at most online ads). How many for the iPhone? A whole lot.. heck.. I could whistle the darn tune for you. Put in the marketing advertising dollars and you'll get good results HOPEFULLY. Kudos for Apple for pushing hard here but let's not forget what the scope of the sales is all about. For the year -it's still highly doubtful that the iPhone will beat out Windows Mobile.
Why? There's more selection. There are more devices.. more OPTIONS. Ironically enough - the iPhone is still too closed no matter what anyone has to say.
Yeah. That's right. I wanted to slam Ann Coulter. That's why I wrote this comment.
If only there were some seating device that could help me with this back situation...
